Päämuistien

Päämuistien, meaning "main memories" in Finnish, refers to the primary memory components within a computer system. These are typically volatile memory types, meaning their contents are lost when the power is turned off. The most common form of päämuistien is Random Access Memory, or RAM. RAM serves as a temporary workspace for the computer's central processing unit (CPU). It stores the operating system, applications, and the data currently being processed, allowing the CPU to access this information very quickly.

The speed and capacity of päämuistien significantly impact a computer's overall performance. Larger amounts of RAM enable the system to handle more tasks simultaneously and run more demanding applications without slowing down.
