Pärlmussla

Pärlmussla, also known as the pearl oyster, is a marine bivalve mollusk that is widely cultivated for its pearls. The scientific name for the pärlmussla is Pinctada maxima, but it is also known by other names such as Pinctada radiata and Pinctada margaritifera. These oysters are native to the Indo-Pacific region, but they are also cultivated in various parts of the world, including the United States, Japan, and Australia.

The pärlmussla is a large, flat oyster with a thick, rounded shell that can grow up to 15 centimeters in length. The shell is typically white or cream-colored, but it can also be brown or black. The oyster has a long, muscular foot that it uses to anchor itself to the substrate and to move around.
