Pyridylamines

Pyridylamines, also known as aminopyridines, are a class of organic compounds characterized by the presence of both a pyridine ring and an amino group. The amino group can be directly attached to the pyridine ring, forming an amino-substituted pyridine, or it can be part of a side chain linked to the ring.

The properties of pyridylamines are influenced by the position of the amino group on the pyridine ring. For instance, 2-aminopyridine, 3-aminopyridine, and 4-aminopyridine are isomers with distinct chemical behaviors. The nitrogen atom in the pyridine ring is weakly basic, while the amino group is also basic.
