Pulpalen

Pulpalen refers to the pulp of a tooth, which is the soft tissue located within the tooth's interior. This vital tissue contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue, and plays a crucial role in tooth development and vitality. The pulp extends from the pulp chamber in the crown of the tooth down through the root canals. Its primary functions include sensing stimuli like temperature and pressure, nourishing the dentin through blood supply, and facilitating the formation of secondary and tertiary dentin throughout a person's life.

Damage to the pulp can occur due to deep cavities, trauma, or repeated dental procedures. When the pulp becomes inflamed or infected, it can lead to significant pain and may require endodontic treatment, commonly known as a root canal. This procedure aims to remove the infected or inflamed pulp, clean and disinfect the root canal system, and then fill and seal it to preserve the tooth. The health of the pulp is therefore essential for maintaining the overall integrity and function of a tooth.
