Pudelite

Pudelite is a name that has appeared in some mineralogical literature as a proposed mineral species. It is not recognized as a valid mineral by major scientific authorities, such as the International Mineralogical Association (IMA), and widely used mineral databases do not provide a definitive entry for pudelite. Consequently, there is no officially accepted chemical formula, crystal system, type locality, or type specimen associated with the name.

The status of pudelite in published sources is uncertain. In many cases, the term is treated as unreliable, potentially representing a misidentification, an outdated or regional name, or a trade name for another material rather than a distinct mineral. As a result, there is little to no peer‑reviewed information available on its composition, structure, or formation processes.

Because pudelite lacks a formal description in recognized mineral literature, reported properties such as color, hardness, luster, or crystal habit are not standardized and vary between informal sources. This absence of consensus means that pudelite cannot be used as a diagnostic mineral in field or laboratory identifications.

If a rigorous description meeting IMA criteria were published and accepted, pudelite could be reconsidered as a valid mineral species. Until such a description appears, pudelite remains a disputed or dubious name with limited use in scientific contexts.
