Préciser

Préciser is a French verb meaning to specify, to make explicit, or to clarify by giving precise details. It is a transitive verb used to request or supply more exact information, and it commonly appears in both spoken and written language, including formal or administrative contexts.

Etymology: Préciser derives from the adjective précis, itself from Latin precisus, formed from praecidere “to cut off beforehand.” The sense evolved from “made clear or exact” to the verb meaning “to specify or clarify.”

Grammatical notes: Préciser is a regular -er verb. In the present tense the forms are: je précise, tu précises, il précise, nous précisons, vous précisez, ils précisent.
