Przegran

Przegran is not a standard or widely recognized term in modern Polish. It does not have an entry in major Polish dictionaries and is generally considered a misspelling or nonstandard form. The word is most likely related to the verb przegrywać/przegrać (to lose) and to the participle przegrany (defeated, worn as an adjective) or the noun przegrana (a defeat, a loss).

In standard Polish, correct related forms are przegrany (masculine), przegrana (feminine or as a noun meaning the defeat), and przegrane (neuter or plural). The verb form przegrywać indicates ongoing losing, while przegrać denotes the act of losing. The noun przegrana is commonly used in sports and everyday language to describe the outcome of a competition or effort, as in “To była przegrana drużyny” or “Zawody zakończyły się przegraną.”

Because przegran does not conform to established inflection in contemporary Polish, its appearance is typically attributed to typographical error, careless writing, or a dialectal/archaic variant not standard today. In any formal or edited text, the correct forms przegrana or przegrany should be used depending on gender and syntactic role.
