Protonledande refers to the ability of a material to conduct protons. This phenomenon is crucial in various electrochemical applications, most notably in proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). In these devices, a proton-conducting membrane acts as an electrolyte, facilitating the movement of protons from the anode to the cathode.

Common examples of proton-conducting materials include Nafion, a perfluorosulfonic acid polymer, which is widely used in PEMFCs due to its excellent proton conductivity and chemical stability. The efficiency of proton transport is influenced by factors such as temperature, humidity, and the material's microstructure.
