Protolyysi

Protolyysi, also known as protolysis or proton transfer, is a chemical process involving the transfer of a proton (H⁺) from one substance to another. This process plays a fundamental role in acid-base chemistry and is essential for numerous biological, environmental, and industrial activities.

In the context of acids and bases, protolyysi describes the dissociation of an acid into its conjugate base and a proton, or conversely, a base accepting a proton to form its conjugate acid.
