Prosjekteres

Prosjekteres is a Norwegian term used to describe the process of designing and detailing a construction or infrastructure project. It involves converting user needs, site conditions, regulations, and budget constraints into a coherent design solution. The work typically results in deliverables such as architectural and technical drawings, specifications, calculations, risk assessments, and cost and time estimates. These outputs form the basis for procurement, tendering, and subsequent construction.

The prosjektering process is usually organized into stages, such as forstudie (feasibility study), forprosjekt or skisseprosjekt (concept or preliminary design), and detaljprosjekt (detailed design). It is a multidisciplinary effort, with participation from architects, engineers (structural, electrical, mechanical), landscape specialists, and contractors, all coordinating to ensure compliance with laws, standards, and building codes. In Norway, this includes alignment with regulatory frameworks and technical requirements, often referred to in building regulations and related guidelines. The term can also be used in other domains, such as product development or IT, where a design is created and documented before production. When a project is described as prosjektert or in the prosjekteringsfase, it indicates that it is currently in the design phase, not yet built, with emphasis on delivering a complete and compliant design basis for execution.
