Promemorior

Promemorior is a term derived from the Latin phrase *pro memoria*, meaning "for memory" or "for remembrance." It refers to a type of note or reminder intended to jog someone’s memory about a past event, conversation, or agreement. Unlike formal records, promemoirs are often informal and serve as personal or organizational aids to ensure key details are not forgotten.

The concept originated in diplomatic and administrative contexts, where officials would draft promemoirs to document discussions, decisions, or instructions for future reference. These documents were particularly useful in settings where oral agreements or verbal instructions might otherwise be misremembered or lost. Over time, the practice expanded into broader professional and personal use, including business, academia, and personal organization.
