Progresyon

Progresyon is a term used in Turkish and some other languages to denote progression—a movement or sequence that follows a rule. In scholarly and everyday language it is used across disciplines to describe growth, change, or forward movement over time.

In mathematics, progresyon refers to a sequence whose terms follow a fixed rule. An arithmetic progression has a constant difference d between consecutive terms: a, a+d, a+2d, ... Example: 5, 8, 11, 14. A geometric progression has a constant ratio r: a, ar, ar^2, ... Example: 2, 6, 18, 54.

In music theory, progresyon can describe a chord progression—the ordered sequence of chords that establishes or reinforces a key or mood. Common examples include a I–IV–V–I progression in major keys and more elaborate sequences used to create harmonic movement.

In other domains, progresyon denotes the progression of phenomena over time. In medicine the term disease progression refers to the evolution or worsening of symptoms. In data analysis or project management, progression describes steps toward a goal or the growth of a measured value.

Etymology and usage: progresyon is borrowed from the English progression and related forms; in Turkish and some other languages it has been adapted with similar meaning.
