Premoravian
Premoravian is a term sometimes used to refer to the historical territory and cultural sphere that existed in the region of Bohemia and Moravia before the establishment of the Great Moravian Empire. This period predates the documented rise of Slavic states in the area, often encompassing the time from early Slavic settlement to the 9th century. Archaeological evidence suggests a gradual development of Slavic societies in these territories during this era. These early settlers were likely organized into tribal structures and engaged in agriculture and trade. The term "Premoravian" is not a formally defined historical period but rather a descriptive label used by some historians to delineate this pre-imperial phase of settlement and cultural development in what would later become the Czech lands. It is important to distinguish this period from the later, more politically organized Great Moravian Empire, which left a more substantial historical record. The exact extent and nature of Premoravian society remain subjects of ongoing research and interpretation by scholars.
