Preklinisiä

It functions as an adjectival form meaning “preclinical” and may appear in plural or adjective phrases such as preklinisiä tutkimuksia or preklinisiä arviointeja. In English-language texts, the equivalent term is preclinical.

Definition and scope

Preklinisiä research refers to investigations conducted before human trials begin. This stage encompasses laboratory experiments and studies in animals or other model systems that aim to assess safety, biological activity, pharmacokinetics, and potential efficacy. The focus is on understanding how a candidate intervention behaves in biological systems and whether it warrants progression to human testing.
