Prefixlukema

The term combines "prefix" with lukema, a label for a hypothetical morpheme type that signals a functional shift in the base word. The concept is used to analyze patterns where prefixes do more than derive new forms and instead alter the word’s role within a sentence or discourse.

Mechanism-wise, a prefixlukema attaches to a base at the left edge, creating a bound word that behaves as a distinct lexical unit. The same prefix may apply to verbs, nouns, or adjectives depending on the language, and it may co-occur with other affixes.
