Pothuraju
Pothuraju is a Hindu folk deity primarily worshipped in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in India. He is often depicted as a fierce and powerful warrior, sometimes considered the brother or attendant of the village goddess (Grama Devata). Pothuraju is invoked for protection against evil spirits, diseases, and to ensure the well-being and prosperity of the community.
His worship is particularly prominent during local festivals and Jataras (village fairs) dedicated to village goddesses.
The iconography of Pothuraju typically includes a trident (Trishul) and a whip, symbolizing his power and authority.
