Populaatiokorrelaatio
Populaatiokorrelaatio, often denoted by the Greek letter rho ($\rho$), is a statistical measure that describes the strength and direction of a linear relationship between two quantitative variables in an entire population. It ranges from -1 to +1. A value of +1 indicates a perfect positive linear correlation, meaning that as one variable increases, the other variable increases proportionally. A value of -1 indicates a perfect negative linear correlation, where as one variable increases, the other decreases proportionally. A value of 0 suggests no linear relationship between the two variables.
The population correlation coefficient is a parameter, meaning it describes a characteristic of the entire population.
Calculating the population correlation coefficient involves using all possible pairs of data points from the population.
