Polymerrückstände

Polymerrückstände, also known as polymer residues, refer to unwanted remnants or traces of polymers that remain after a manufacturing process or after a product's intended use. These can be generated during various stages of polymer production, processing, and recycling. For example, during injection molding, small amounts of unmelted polymer or degraded material can be left behind. In chemical synthesis, incomplete reactions can lead to residual monomers or oligomers.

Microplastic particles, for instance, are a form of polymerrückstände resulting from the fragmentation of larger plastic items due to weathering, physical abrasion, or degradation. These microplastics can accumulate in the environment, posing ecological concerns.
