Poliszomnográfiás

Poliszomnográfiás, often referred to as polysomnography or a sleep study, is a comprehensive diagnostic test used to evaluate sleep disorders. It involves monitoring various physiological functions of the body during sleep. This typically includes brain wave activity (electroencephalogram or EEG), eye movements (electrooculogram or EOG), muscle activity (electromyogram or EMG), heart rate and rhythm (electrocardiogram or ECG), breathing patterns (respiratory effort and airflow), and blood oxygen levels (oximetry).

The procedure is conducted in a sleep laboratory or a specialized clinic. Before sleep, sensors are attached to the patient's scalp, chin, chest, and legs. These sensors are connected to a recording device that captures the data throughout the night. Patients are encouraged to sleep as they normally would, although the presence of the equipment might initially cause some adjustment.

Poliszomnográfiás is essential for diagnosing a range of sleep disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, and periodic limb movement disorder. The data collected allows medical professionals to identify abnormalities in sleep stages, breathing disruptions, and other physiological events that occur during sleep. Based on the results, a diagnosis can be made, and an appropriate treatment plan can be developed to improve the patient's sleep quality and overall health.
