Polimerizációra refers to the process of polymerization. Polymerization is a chemical reaction where small molecules, called monomers, combine to form a large chain-like molecule, called a polymer. This process can occur through different mechanisms, broadly categorized into chain-growth polymerization and step-growth polymerization.

Chain-growth polymerization typically involves the formation of an active center on a monomer, which then reacts with other monomers, adding them one by one to the growing chain. Each step in the polymerization process involves the formation of a new bond between two molecules, which can be monomers, oligomers, or polymers. This type of polymerization is common in the formation of polyesters and polyamides.
