Polimerizációját

Polimerizációját is the Hungarian term for polymerization. Polymerization is a process of reacting monomer molecules together in a chemical reaction to form polymer chains or three-dimensional networks. This process results in the formation of a large molecule, or macromolecule, composed of repeating structural units. These repeating units, derived from monomers, are linked together by covalent chemical bonds.

There are many different types of polymerization, broadly classified into two main categories: chain-growth polymerization and step-growth polymerization. Chain-growth polymerization, also known as addition polymerization, involves the sequential addition of monomer units to an active growing chain. This typically proceeds through mechanisms involving free radicals, cations, or anions. Step-growth polymerization, also known as condensation polymerization, involves the reaction between monomers that have at least two functional groups. These reactions usually release a small molecule, such as water, as a byproduct.

Polymers are ubiquitous in modern life, forming the basis of plastics, synthetic fibers, rubbers, and many biological molecules like DNA and proteins. The properties of a polymer are determined by the type of monomer used, the length and structure of the polymer chains, and how these chains are arranged and interact with each other. The study and application of polymerization are central to the field of polymer science and engineering.
