Polarisationgrad is a German term that translates to "degree of polarization" in English. It is a physical quantity that describes the extent to which a wave, typically electromagnetic radiation like light, is polarized. Polarization refers to the orientation of the oscillations of the wave. For instance, light can be linearly polarized, circularly polarized, or elliptically polarized.

The degree of polarization quantifies the proportion of polarized light within a beam that may also contain unpolarized light.
