Poenari
Poenari refers to a historical and archaeological site in Romania, notable for its association with Vlad the Impaler. The site is home to the Poenari Castle ruins, perched on a mountaintop overlooking the Argeș River. This fortress is considered by many historians to be Vlad the Impaler's true primary residence, in contrast to the more famous Bran Castle.
The original fortifications at Poenari date back to the 13th century, built by the Voivodes of Wallachia.
