Pluviographs
A pluviograph is an instrument used to measure and record the amount of precipitation over a specific period. It consists of a funnel that collects rainwater, which is then directed into a graduated cylinder. The cylinder is marked with measurements, allowing the observer to record the volume of rainfall. Pluviographs can be manual or automatic. Manual pluviographs require an observer to read and record the measurements, while automatic pluviographs use sensors and data loggers to record and store data digitally. Pluviographs are essential tools in meteorology, hydrology, and agriculture, providing valuable information for weather forecasting, water resource management, and crop planning. They are typically installed in open areas away from obstacles that could interfere with rainfall collection. Regular maintenance is necessary to ensure accurate measurements.
