Pluralbildung is a linguistic term referring to the process of forming the plural of a noun, indicating more than one instance of that noun. In many languages, pluralization is achieved through specific grammatical rules, often involving the addition of suffixes or prefixes, or changes to the stem of the word. For example, in English, the most common plural marker is the suffix "-s" or "-es" added to the singular form, as seen in "cat" becoming "cats" or "box" becoming "boxes."

However, pluralization is not always straightforward. Irregular plural forms exist in numerous languages, requiring memorization rather than adherence to a simple rule. English examples include "child" to "children," "man" to "men," and "mouse" to "mice."
