Plazmaalapú refers to technologies or devices that utilize plasma. Plasma, often described as the fourth state of matter, is an ionized gas consisting of ions, electrons, and neutral particles. It is created by adding energy to a gas, causing the electrons to be stripped from their atoms. This highly energetic state allows plasma to exhibit unique properties, making it useful in a variety of applications.

In industrial settings, plazmaalapú processes are employed for surface treatment, etching, and deposition. For example, plasma etching is a critical step in semiconductor manufacturing, allowing for precise removal of material from silicon wafers. Low-temperature plasmas, also known as non-thermal plasmas, are particularly well-suited for this purpose as they can kill microorganisms without damaging heat-sensitive materials.

The high energy of plasma can break down complex molecules into simpler, less harmful substances. Furthermore, research is ongoing into using plasma for advanced propulsion systems in spacecraft, known as plasma thrusters, which offer higher efficiency compared to traditional rocket engines.
