Plasmakudoksiin, also known as plasma exchange, is a medical procedure used to treat certain conditions by removing and replacing a portion of the patient's plasma with fresh plasma. Plasma is the liquid component of blood that contains proteins, antibodies, and other substances necessary for blood clotting and immune function. In plasmakudoksiin, a machine called an apheresis machine is used to separate the plasma from the red blood cells and other components of the blood. The plasma is then either discarded or treated with medications, and fresh plasma is infused back into the patient's bloodstream.
