Planteverden

Planteverden is a term in Norwegian and Danish that translates to the plant world. In scientific and educational contexts it denotes the diversity of organisms classified within the Plantae kingdom and the study of their biology, ecology, and evolution. The term encompasses all true plants, including bryophytes (mosses, liverworts, and hornworts), pteridophytes (ferns and related plants), gymnosperms (conifers, cycads, ginkgo), and angiosperms (flowering plants).

Plants are primarily photosynthetic producers with cellulose-rich cell walls. They are multicellular and often display an alternation of generations, with sporophyte and gametophyte life stages. They inhabit nearly every terrestrial habitat and many aquatic environments, from deserts to rainforests and wetlands.

Ecological role and significance: As the major primary producers, plants form the base of most ecosystems, generate oxygen, store carbon, stabilize soils, and provide food, fibers, medicines, and habitats for other organisms.
