Piretriineihin

Piretriineihin refers to a group of naturally occurring insecticides derived from chrysanthemum flowers, specifically species within the genus Chrysanthemum. These compounds, known as pyrethrins, are esters of chrysanthemic acid or pyrethric acid with an alcohol moiety. The most common forms are pyrethrin I and pyrethrin II, which differ in their acid component. Naturally occurring pyrethrins are valued for their rapid knockdown effect on insects and their relatively low mammalian toxicity. They work by disrupting the nervous system of insects, causing paralysis and eventual death. While potent against a wide range of insects, they are also susceptible to degradation by UV light and air, which limits their residual activity in outdoor applications. Synthetic analogues of pyrethrins, known as pyrethroids, have been developed to overcome some of these limitations, offering greater stability and persistence. Piretriineihin and their synthetic counterparts are widely used in agriculture, public health, and household pest control products.
