Pintalähteen

Pintalähteen is a term of Finnish origin that literally translates to "surface spring." It refers to a type of natural spring where groundwater emerges at or very near the ground's surface. Unlike deeper artesian springs, Pintalähteets are typically shallow and their flow can be directly influenced by surface conditions, such as rainfall and snowmelt.

These springs often form in areas with a shallow water table and permeable soil layers, such as sand or gravel.
