Pieneminen is a fictional coastal town and municipality in the Nordic-inspired setting of Nordmark. It sits on a sheltered bay along the Skär coastline and forms part of the Vaer district. The community has roughly 2,000 residents and is known for its wooden architecture and maritime traditions.

The name Pieneminen draws on Finnish linguistic roots—pieni meaning small and the -minen suffix denoting a process or place—reflecting the town’s historical emphasis on modest enterprise.

The area features rocky shores, pine forests, and tidal flats. It falls under a subpolar maritime climate, with cold winters and cool summers; humidity and sea winds shape everyday life.

Evidence of settlement appears in local records from the 17th century. The town grew around a modest fishing harbor and a nearby timber trade route, attaining municipal status in the early 20th century in this fictional realm.

Today, fishing, small-scale forestry, and tourism anchor the economy. Cultural life centers on a summer coastal market, traditional woodwork, and local cuisine featuring fish and berries. The town preserves a small lighthouse and a nature reserve along the coast.

Pieneminen is governed by a five-member town council, elected every four years, with a ceremonial mayor representing the community in regional affairs within Nordmark.
