Phasenversatz, also known as phase shift or phase lag/lead, is a concept used to describe the difference in phase between two periodic signals. In simpler terms, it indicates how much one wave is ahead or behind another wave of the same frequency. This difference is typically measured in degrees or radians. Imagine two identical waves starting at the same point and moving at the same speed. If one wave begins its cycle slightly before or after the other, it has a phase shift relative to the first.

The concept of phasenversatz is crucial in various fields, including electrical engineering, acoustics, and physics. In AC circuits, for example, the voltage and current may not be perfectly synchronized due to the presence of inductors or capacitors, leading to a phase difference. This phase difference affects the power delivered to the circuit.
