Phagocytederived

Phagocytederived is a descriptor used to refer to materials or mediators produced by phagocytic cells during and after phagocytosis. Phagocytes, including neutrophils, macrophages, and dendritic cells, internalize particles or microbes, forming phagosomes that fuse with lysosomes to form phagolysosomes. Phagederived products include degradative enzymes such as lysozymes and proteases, reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, and signaling molecules like cytokines and chemokines. In addition, phagocytes release extracellular vesicles that originate from the phagocytic process, carrying proteins, lipids, and antigenic peptides.

These products contribute to microbial killing, digestion of ingested material, and modulation of the immune response.
