Pevensie

Pevensie is the fictional surname of four siblings in The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis: Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie. They are among the series’ central figures, especially in the opening book and throughout the early adventures.

In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the siblings are evacuated from London during World War II to the countryside to stay with Professor Kirke. Lucy discovers Narnia through a wardrobe, and the others enter soon after. Together they ally with Aslan to defeat the White Witch. After victory, the four are crowned as the kings and queens of Narnia at Cair Paravel, inaugurating a period often referred to as the Golden Age of Narnia.

Across the later volumes, the Pevensies return to Narnia at different times, taking on roles that emphasize leadership, courage, and moral responsibility. Their reign helps shape Narnia’s history, and their experiences are used to contrast the human world with a mythic, magical realm. In the series’ concluding arcs, the siblings appear in depictions of an afterlife in Aslan’s country.
