Perusväreillä

Perusväreillä is a Finnish term that translates to "primary colors." In the context of color theory, primary colors are a set of colors from which all other colors can theoretically be mixed. The specific set of primary colors depends on the color model being used.

In subtractive color mixing, which is used in pigments and printing, the primary colors are typically red, yellow, and blue (RYB). When these colors are mixed together, they absorb different wavelengths of light. Mixing red and yellow produces orange, yellow and blue produces green, and red and blue produces purple. Mixing all three primary colors together in equal proportions theoretically results in black, though in practice it often produces a dark muddy brown.

In additive color mixing, which is used in light and digital displays, the primary colors are red, green, and blue (RGB). When these colored lights are combined, they add their wavelengths. Mixing red and green light produces yellow, green and blue light produces cyan, and red and blue light produces magenta. Mixing all three primary colors of light in equal proportions produces white light.

The concept of primary colors is fundamental to understanding how colors are perceived and reproduced. Different cultures and historical periods have sometimes had different ideas about what constitutes the primary colors, but the RYB and RGB models are the most widely accepted in modern science and art.
