The tolerance zone for perpendicularity is typically a rectangular or cylindrical region. If applied to a surface, the tolerance zone defines the maximum allowable space between two parallel planes that are at a 90-degree angle to a datum feature. If applied to an axis, the tolerance zone is often a cylindrical region centered on the true axis of the feature, defined by its distance from the datum feature.
