Peegeldus

Peegeldus is the Estonian term for reflection, used to describe a process or result in physical, cognitive, and cultural contexts. In everyday language it refers to the act of turning back or reproducing an image, sound, or idea, as well as the appearance that results from such a process.

The word derives from peegel, meaning mirror, with the suffix -dus forming a noun denoting the process or effect. Peegeldus can describe both literal reflections in surfaces and more abstract notions of mirroring in thought or behavior.

In physics and optics, peegeldus denotes the return of waves—light, sound, or electromagnetic waves—from a boundary. The law of reflection states that the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection. Surfaces can produce specular reflection (mirror-like) or diffuse reflection (scattered). In psychology and culture
