Peanon

Peanon is a fictional town created for encyclopedia-style world-building. It is situated along the Pea River in the coastal region of Norhaven, in a temperate climate with rolling countryside.

The name Peanon is derived from Pea, an old word for meadow, and -non, a suffix used in several local place-names.

The town covers about 20 square kilometers, with low hills to the east and marshlands to the west, and it experiences mild summers and cool, wet winters.

Peanon formed as a market hamlet in the 12th century, gained a charter in 1284, and developed around agriculture and milling. The arrival of a railway branch in 1898 spurred growth.

As of 2020, the population was approximately 9,800. The economy centers on agriculture, light manufacturing, and services, with a small port providing regional trade.

Peanon hosts an annual harvest festival and preserves a 15th-century stone bridge. The town council governs local matters, while regional authorities manage infrastructure and education.
