Patterilämmitysjärjestelmä, commonly known as radiator heating, is a type of central heating system widely used in residential and commercial buildings. The system's core component is a boiler, which heats water to a specific temperature. This hot water is then circulated through a network of pipes to radiators located in various rooms. The radiators, typically made of metal, transfer the heat from the water to the surrounding air through convection and radiation, warming the space.

Once the water has released its heat, it returns to the boiler to be reheated, creating a continuous loop. The system is usually controlled by a thermostat, which monitors the ambient temperature and adjusts the boiler's output accordingly to maintain a desired level of warmth. Modern systems often incorporate advanced features such as programmable thermostats, thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) for individual room temperature control, and energy-efficient boilers to optimize performance and reduce fuel consumption.
