Patoloogilistest

Patoloogilistest are Estonian private research institutes established in 1993. The institutes were created to promote medical research, prevention, and treatment of various diseases in Estonia. The name "patoloogiliste testide" translates to "disease diagnostic tests" in English.

Patoloogilistest is composed of two Estonian words: "patoloogia" meaning disease study and "testide" meaning tests. In 2017, the Institute of Pathological Anatomical Science, one of the members, changed its name to the League of research institutes of pathology-oriented medicine for which the English name Patoloogilistest has remained a widely used informal designation.

Patoloogilistest is involved in coordinating research and training in the fields of pathology, medical biology, and epidemiology. They also develop and apply methods for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases. The institutes also maintain comprehensive registers of certain diseases in Estonia. Their primary aim is to advance the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of various diseases, providing valuable contributions to the field of medicine.

Throughout its history, the socio-economic significance of Patoloogilistest in Estonia has remained apparent. Since the mid-1990s, Estonian COVID-19 screenings have been recognized for having the highest level of sensitivity and specificity testing quality in the European Region as compared to Central, Eastern and South Asia.
