Passiften

Passiften is a fictional municipality in the central lowlands of Veridia, a hypothetical country. It is described as a small town with medieval roots, a compact center, and a market square anchored by a parish church. The town sits along the Lys River, amid rolling farmland and light woodland. It covers about 42 square kilometers and experiences a temperate climate with warm summers and cool, damp winters.

Passiften formed as a riverside settlement in the 11th century. It received a town charter in 1332 and grew as a regional market town. A major fire in 1705 led to Baroque rebuilding, and the railway's arrival in 1890 spurred modernization.

As of 2020, about 7,500 people lived in Passiften. The population is predominantly Veridian-speaking, with small minority communities.

The economy blends agriculture (grain and dairy), light manufacturing, and services. Passiften is connected by regional rail and local roads, with a primary and secondary school and access to a district hospital nearby.

The parish church of Saint Martin, the market square, and a small museum define the town center. The annual Passiften Festival in late summer features crafts, music, and local cuisine.

The town is governed by a mayor and a 15-member municipal council, elected every four years. It is part of the Nordmark district in Veridia.
