Parnassia

Parnassia is a genus of herbaceous flowering plants in the family Celastraceae. The genus is native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, with a wide distribution across North America, Europe, and Asia. Commonly known as grass-of-Parnassus, these plants are often found in wet habitats such as bogs, fens, and damp meadows.

The genus name, Parnassia, is derived from Mount Parnassus in Greece, a mountain sacred to the Muses, suggesting a connection to beauty and nature. While not widely cultivated, some species are appreciated for their delicate beauty in moist garden settings.
