Parittomiksi

Parittomiksi is the translative plural form of the Finnish adjective pariton, meaning “to become odd” or “to be made odd.” The translative case in Finnish expresses a change of state, so parittomiksi is used when the subject changes into an odd state or into odd numbers, typically with a plural subject.

Linguistic usage follows standard Finnish grammar: parittomiksi is used with verbs such as muuttaa (to change) or tehdä (to make) to describe a transformation to oddness. The corresponding singular form, parittomaksi, is used with a singular subject, for example “luku muuttui parittomaksi” (the number became odd).

For example, “Luvut 4, 6 ja 8 muutettiin parittomiksi lisäämällä yhden” means “The numbers 4, 6, and 8 were changed to odd numbers by adding one (resulting in 5, 7, and 9).” Another common construction is “parilliset luvut muutettiin parittomiksi” meaning “even numbers were made odd.”

Usage notes: parittomiksi is primarily found in mathematical or technical descriptions, but it can appear in problem statements, algorithm descriptions, or proofs where parity changes are discussed.
