Paneelgroep

The precise function and authority of a paneelgroep depend on the setting, but common features include a defined objective, a limited duration, and a formal process for selecting members.

In advisory contexts, a paneelgroep brings together experts or stakeholders to provide independent input on policies, strategies, or research designs. Members are typically chosen for expertise, experience, or representation, and their contributions are documented in minutes or reports. In media or event settings, the term is used for the lineup of panelists participating in a discussion, debate, or competition jury, with a moderator guiding the conversation and ensuring balance among perspectives.

In participatory governance or citizen-engagement programs, paneelgroepen may consist of lay participants or a mix of experts and citizens to collect diverse viewpoints, often through recruitment or random selection. The outcomes can range from written recommendations to formal decisions, depending on the mandate.
