Paluuvesilämpötila

Paluuvesilämpötila refers to the temperature of the water returning to a heating system, typically a boiler or heat pump, after it has circulated through radiators, underfloor heating, or other heat emitters. It is a crucial parameter for the efficiency and performance of many heating systems, particularly those employing condensing boilers or heat pumps.

In condensing boilers, a lower return water temperature allows for greater heat extraction from the flue gases. This process, known as condensation, recovers latent heat that would otherwise be lost up the chimney, leading to improved energy efficiency and reduced fuel consumption. For heat pumps, maintaining an optimal return water temperature is vital for achieving their rated efficiency (Coefficient of Performance or COP).

Higher return water temperatures can indicate issues such as undersized radiators, insufficient flow rates, or a system that is not properly balanced. Conversely, excessively low return temperatures might suggest overheating of the heat emitters or an excessively high flow rate. Monitoring and controlling the paluuvesilämpötila is therefore essential for maintaining a comfortable indoor environment while minimizing energy waste.
