Paltamo

Paltamo is a municipality in the Kainuu region of Finland. It is located approximately 20 kilometers north of Kajaani, the regional capital. The municipality covers an area of 1,132.24 square kilometers, of which 134.09 square kilometers is water. As of December 2023, Paltamo had a population of 2,939 residents.

The landscape of Paltamo is characterized by forests, lakes, and rolling hills. The Oulujoki river, one of Finland's largest river systems, flows through the municipality. Paltamo is situated along the main road 5 (E63), which connects it to Kajaani and further north.
