The most common and internationally recognized pallet size is the EUR pallet, also known as the Euro pallet or EPAL pallet, measuring 800 x 1200 millimeters. This size is widely used across Europe and has become an industry standard.

Other significant pallet sizes include the US standard pallet, which measures 40 x 48 inches (approximately 1016 x 1219 millimeters). This is prevalent in North America. Industrial pallets, often measuring 1000 x 1200 millimeters, are also common in various regions and industries, particularly in Asia. Smaller pallet sizes exist for specific applications, such as half pallets (400 x 600 mm) which are often used in retail for displaying goods.

The selection of an appropriate pallestørrelse is crucial for efficient logistics. It impacts warehouse space utilization, transportation costs, and the compatibility of handling equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks. Standardized sizes facilitate smoother international trade and intermodal transport, ensuring that goods can be moved seamlessly between different modes of transportation.
