PMeOx
PMeOx, also known as Peroxymethoxyl, is a chemical compound with the formula CH3OOH. It is a derivative of methanol, where one hydrogen atom is replaced by a hydroperoxy group. PMeOx is a colorless liquid at room temperature, with a boiling point of 101°C and a melting point of -93°C. It is highly reactive and can decompose explosively when heated or subjected to shock. PMeOx is primarily used as an intermediate in the production of other chemicals, such as methyl methacrylate and methyl methacrylate monomer. It is also used in the synthesis of certain pharmaceuticals and as a catalyst in some chemical reactions. However, due to its high reactivity and potential for explosive decomposition, PMeOx must be handled with care and stored under controlled conditions. It is classified as a hazardous substance and should be used only by trained personnel in appropriate safety equipment.
