PGE1analogia
PGE1 analogs, or prostaglandin E1 analogs, are a class of pharmaceutical compounds that resemble natural prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) in structure and pharmacologic activity. They are designed to mimic the actions of PGE1 while offering improved pharmacokinetic properties, greater stability, or different routes of administration. These agents primarily act on the EP receptor family (EP1–EP4) to induce vasodilation and modulation of smooth muscle tone.
Two clinically important PGE1 analogs are alprostadil, a direct PGE1 agonist used for conditions such as maintaining
Adverse effects depend on the agent and route; they may include hypotension, flushing, dizziness, and penile
