Pfunktionen (P-Funktionen) is a German-language term that appears in different mathematical contexts and does not denote a single standardized object. It is used to refer to various classes of functions that are tied to a parameter P or to probability in different disciplines. Because the term is not uniformly defined, its exact meaning is typically inferred from context.

In probability theory and statistics, Pfunktionen often denote functions that encode distributional information. A common example is the probability generating function G_X(s) = E[s^X], which some older texts may refer to as a P-Funktion. From such a function one can recover the distribution of a random variable X.
